Itinerary

Your adventure begins the moment you land in Nairobi, greeted by a vibrant culture right from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After settling into your accommodation, you'll meet the group and your coordinator for a welcome briefing, where we'll go over the details of the itinerary.

We'll visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where we'll get up close with orphaned elephants and learn about the conservation efforts underway to protect them. Next we'll head to the Giraffe Center, a sanctuary dedicated to the Rothschild giraffe, where we'll get the chance to feed them. We'll close out the day with free time to explore Nairobi or relax at the hotel.

We'll transfer to the iconic Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of the most famous safari destinations in the world. Along the way we'll cross Kenya's varied landscapes with sweeping panoramic views until we reach our destination, where we'll settle into our lodging and enjoy lunch.

Starting early, we'll explore the reserve's vast plains and rivers in search of the "Big Five" and other iconic African wildlife species, guided by local experts. We'll pause for a picnic lunch and continue the safari into the afternoon before heading back to camp at sunset, closing out the night swapping stories around the fire.

An early-morning safari, taking advantage of the hours when wildlife is most active, with a chance to see lions and cheetahs on the hunt. After breakfast we'll take a guided walk with Maasai warriors across the lands they've inhabited for centuries, learning about their traditions and survival skills. We'll close the day by heading to a sacred cave for a traditional Maasai ceremony, listening to ancestral stories and stargazing.

We'll say goodbye to the Maasai Mara and head to picturesque Lake Naivasha, where we can choose between a boat ride — with a chance to spot hippos and waterbirds — or a walk along the shoreline. After lunch we'll begin the drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.

We'll kick off the second leg of the trip with an overland transfer from Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania, crossing savanna and mountain landscapes, with stops to stretch our legs and snap some photos. On arriving in Arusha — Tanzania's "safari capital," at the foot of Mount Meru — we'll have the afternoon free to rest or explore the city.

After breakfast we'll head to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania's sixth-largest at roughly 2,600 km², known for its large elephant families and abundant wildlife. Once the game drive wraps up, we'll transfer to our accommodation at Lake Manyara.

We'll visit one of Africa's most iconic safari areas: the Ngorongoro Crater reserve, south of the Serengeti, where wildlife viewing is excellent year-round thanks to its diverse population of lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, and gazelles, with a chance to witness the animal migration. Afterward we'll return to our accommodation at Lake Manyara.

We'll transfer from Lake Manyara to Kilimanjaro Airport, with a chance to spot Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m above sea level), along the way. We'll then take a flight to the paradise island of Zanzibar and, on arrival, settle into our accommodation.

A day to rest and soak up everything this island has to offer: sunbathe, head out dolphin-watching, or simply go for a swim.

Another perfect day to enjoy this beautiful island at your own pace. Our team will be on hand to recommend the best activities in Zanzibar.

A great day of adventure awaits, with optional activities to choose from. We recommend kayaking in the morning at Jambiani Beach and visiting Kuza Cave at midday, a 50-meter sinkhole tucked into the jungle on Zanzibar's east coast, quite similar to a cenote on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula.

It's time to say goodbye to the group and head to the airport — about an hour from the hotel — to catch your flight back home.

An experience you have to do once in your life. The nature is incredible, even more so when you combine it with the warmth of the people who live in Africa. It was a trip full of excitement, culture, joy, and adventure.

My experience through Africa was wonderful, being in the savannah alongside the lives of different animals in all their splendor and natural habitat, seeing them so close and with total safety.

The Kenya and Tanzania route is a unique experience that you have to live at least once in your life.

Traveling with Wild & Wonder has been a really good experience, the small groups and the different itineraries make the experience incredible. It's my second trip with them.

Africa was always a dream for me, and W&W helped me make a great dream come true.

Be between 25 and 45 years old, with valid travel documentation (a passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date into the country). We'll guide you if you need to arrange a visa.

Given the nature of our adventures — constant transfers, packing and unpacking every day — we ask you to travel light: a small backpack or personal item, plus a 10–12 kg carry-on. If you prefer to bring a larger suitcase, any extra storage or transport cost is on you.

Message us on WhatsApp using the "Reserve your spot" button and we'll walk you through the form and deposit. As soon as your spot is confirmed, we'll send you the next steps.

You reserve your spot with $100 USD, which counts toward the final package price. The remainder is split into up to 6 payments on fixed dates, and must be paid off no later than one month before the trip. Cash payments are not accepted.

You book your own flights, but you'll get guidance from your experience coordinator once you've reserved your spot, including the recommended arrival airport. If you decide to fly in before or after the group dates, any extra costs are on you.

An experience coordinator follows up with you remotely before the trip (flights, visas, prep). A W&W ambassador travels with you in person and leads the group, and expert local guides join you on tours. The rest of the group is other travelers on the same date.

Our packages are built around well-located 3- or 4-star hotels, in twin rooms (2 beds) shared with another group member. Some packages include different nights, like camping or igloos, noted in the itinerary.
