Itinerary

Welcome to Peru. We'll transfer from the airport to our accommodations to check in, then head out to Cusco's main square to kick off our walking city tour, learning about the country's history, culture, and heritage, with time to browse souvenir shops and Peruvian crafts. The airport transfer costs approximately $7 USD.

We'll set off early for the Maras Salt Mines, more than 3,000 salt pools that have been worked since Inca times. We'll continue to the fascinating archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, with its terraces, temples, and fortress, and wrap up with a buffet lunch in Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Departure at 4:30 am toward Cusipata for a hearty breakfast, then we'll hike up to Rainbow Mountain, reaching 5,020 m (16,470 ft) at the summit amid intense colors and icy streams. We'll return with a buffet meal in Cusipata and arrive back in Cusco around 7 pm.

The long-awaited Salkantay Trek begins! Breakfast in Mollepata, then a hike to Humantay Lake, a stunning turquoise lagoon ringed by glaciers. A 2-hour descent to camp for teatime and dinner.

Departure at 5:00 am toward Salkantay Pass, the most challenging stretch of the trek, reaching 4,632 m between the Humantay (5,917 m) and Salkantay (6,271 m) peaks, with magnificent views of the entire mountain range. Several hours' descent to camp in Chaullay.

Breakfast at 5:00 am and a 6-hour hike to La Playa, surrounded by flora and fauna, learning about the Andean coffee-growing process, then walking along the train tracks to reach Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town). Rest at our accommodations before dinner and finalizing the last details for our visit to Machu Picchu (3 meals included today).

Welcome to Machu Picchu! You can hike up or take the bus (optional, with an additional cost of approximately $15 USD each way). A roughly 2-hour guided tour of the citadel at 2,490 m, with free time to keep exploring before lunch and the train ride back to Cusco.

The day has come to discover a new country: we'll board an overnight bus from Cusco bound for Puno, crossing the Andean landscape under a starry sky.

We'll explore the breathtaking Lake Titicaca, sailing across its waters and getting to know its islands full of culture and history. In the afternoon, we'll continue on to La Paz, crossing the unique landscapes of the altiplano.

We'll discover the vibrant city of La Paz, exploring its streets, incredible viewpoints, culture, history, and traditions.

We'll fly to Uyuni to begin one of the most striking experiences of the trip, venturing into surreal landscapes that mark the start of our route across the Bolivian altiplano.

The wonder moment of this trip: we'll explore the majestic Uyuni Salt Flats, a seemingly endless white landscape, amid unique formations and unforgettable views.

We'll continue our journey across the altiplano, discovering colorful lagoons, geysers, and volcanic landscapes that feel like another planet.

We'll wrap up this incredible adventure arriving in Calama, with unique memories of breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable experiences from along the way.

The expedition in Peru was an unforgettable experience. The stunning landscapes you come across along the way are unique. But what I liked most was the chance to disconnect from routine and reconnect with myself.

My experience with Wild & Wonder on the Peru trail was excellent, wonderful, and deeply enriching for my spirit and my energy. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized.

We did the Salkantay Trek, and it was so much more than a hike: it was a deep, magical, and revealing journey. I felt a very special connection, both with the people and with the energy of the place.

The hikes were challenging, but every view, every sunrise in the mountains, and every laugh shared with the group made it totally worth it. The team was amazing, organized, and passionate.

It was great to connect with people who have the same eagerness to experience another culture, food, and new places. Wild & Wonder helps you with whatever questions you have and supports you through the process from start to finish.

Have questions?

Be between 25 and 45 years old, with valid travel documentation (a passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date into the country). We'll guide you if you need to arrange a visa.

Given the nature of our adventures — constant transfers, packing and unpacking every day — we ask you to travel light: a small backpack or personal item, plus a 10–12 kg carry-on. If you prefer to bring a larger suitcase, any extra storage or transport cost is on you.

Message us on WhatsApp using the "Reserve your spot" button and we'll walk you through the form and deposit. As soon as your spot is confirmed, we'll send you the next steps.

You reserve your spot with $100 USD, which counts toward the final package price. The remainder is split into up to 6 payments on fixed dates, and must be paid off no later than one month before the trip. Cash payments are not accepted.

You book your own flights, but you'll get guidance from your experience coordinator once you've reserved your spot, including the recommended arrival airport. If you decide to fly in before or after the group dates, any extra costs are on you.

An experience coordinator follows up with you remotely before the trip (flights, visas, prep). A W&W ambassador travels with you in person and leads the group, and expert local guides join you on tours. The rest of the group is other travelers on the same date.

Our packages are built around well-located 3- or 4-star hotels, in twin rooms (2 beds) shared with another group member. Some packages include different nights, like camping or igloos, noted in the itinerary.
